Joanna Lorens

I seek inspiration in the Nature that surrounds me. Drops of falling rain and a song listened to at the time, the chirping of birds, and a ray of sunlight falling on the glass, all set my imagination in motion. They suggest an idea for my next glass figure.

Photography plays an important role in my design process. It is my hobby, or rather my passion, which I devote every spare moment to. Thanks to it, I discover unique places and objects. I use the camera to capture shapes and structures that turn into vases, glasses, and decanters, first on a sheet of paper and then in the fire of a glass smelting furnace.

In my designs, I focus on refined aesthetics, functionality and the originality of the shapes created. The glass I design is perfectly suited to contemporary interiors, whether classic or modern. It performs a similar role in the space as the full stop at the end of a sentence – it completes, and ‘closes’ its space.

Graduated from the State High School of Fine Arts in Krosno, 1998. Graduated at the Faculty of Art at the University of Rzeszów, 2003.

In 2004, she was employed as a designer at Krosno’s Glassworks „KROSNO” S.A. (currently Krosno Glass S.A.).

She designs products made of both hand-formed glass and automatic glass, as well as their decorations.She collaborated with sommelier Paweł Białobrocki in creating the Makłowicz wine collection, 2017.

Her works were presented annually at the International Fair in Frankfurt, Germany, in the years 2005-2023, and at the exhibition in the Polish pavilion during Dubai Expo, 2021. They are also part of the permanent exhibition of the Glass Heritage Centre in Krosno.
