ABOUT PROJECT

The Polish Glass Designers 19502020 project, curated by the Fly with Art Foundation as part of the Ministry of Culture and National Heritage’s “Culture on the Web” programme, aims to inventorise the resources of glass design in Poland since 1950 and to design and launch the portal www.polscyprojektanciszkla.pl.

For several months we have been collecting documentation on the achievements of 30 selected designers and the glassworks where they carried out their work. Using information and materials obtained from various sources (many of the designers on our list have passed on), we have been organising the level of knowledge about Polish glass design. It was not easy, not only because of the lack of reliable and credible studies on the 70-year history of Polish glass design, but also because of the pandemic, which made it impossible to meet the still living doyens of glass design in Poland.

We hope that the portal www.polscyprojektanciszkła.pl, which we have designed and launched, will be a platform for the presentation and exchange of information on Polish glass design. It will provide quick and easy access to a database documenting the professional paths of designers, and will help our audience to recognise and identify the work of Polish glass designers.

In addition, with the right tools, it will allow us to create and add further presentations and modify existing ones. We are also going to add content and subsequent modules: collections, exhibitions, and a library, provided that adequate funds are obtained.

The knowledge, contacts and huge interest in the topic on the project’s fanpage will surely facilitate our further work on the project.

We invite you to discover the history of Polish glass design together.  There’s still a lot of work ahead of us!
