Maria Słaboń-Kapa

She is one of the group of Polish crystal reformers. Her works present a masterly degree of knowledge of the material and its possibilities, and clear and simple décors constitute an integral whole with the sculpturally treated form.

She made a series of glasses with a unique, inimitable character, experimenting with the structure of the material, enriching it with metal oxides, using the antico technique and combining traditionally-formed objects with free, glassworking overlays.

Graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Wrocław (now the E. Geppert Academy of Art and Design), 1971, in the studio of Professor Stanisław Dawski. From 1971 until her retirement, she worked at the “Zawiercie” Household Glass Glassworks in Zawiercie as a designer.  In the years 1989-1994, she was an educator at the Tadeusz Kantor School of Fine Arts Complex in Dąbrowa Górnicza,

She has participated in many individual and collective exhibitions, both domestic and foreign.

She has received numerous awards and distinctions for her work.

Her works are in the collections of: the Museum in Gliwice, the Schoen Palace Museum in Sosnowiec, and the National Museum in Wrocław.
